Denver Public Schools (DPS) offers families the opportunity to have their children apply to a traditional DPS school that is not the school which serves their residence (neighborhood school).
- Applications must have a valid DPS Student ID # in order to be processed.
- Students not currently enrolled in a DPS school will need to pre-enroll (see school secretary for Pre-Enrollment Form).
- Each applicant may choose up to two schools for which to apply, in 1st and 2nd preference order.
- All applications fall within a priority group and random numbers (lottery) are assigned.
- The number of students accepted at each school will be determined by the principal, based on available space by grade.
- Charter schools, Magnet schools, and other programs offering a specialized curriculum have separate applications and enrollment processes.
- If your child is accepted to a magnet or charter school, any DPS Choice (traditional school) approvals will be inactivated.
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) is offered for three and four year olds. Kindergarten offers a half and full day program. Separate Kindergarten and ECE applications will be available at DPS sites beginning January 4, 2010.
